Monday's Music-Madeleine Peyroux J'ai Deux Amours

I'm fascinated with the french culture. The language, the food, the fashion, the architecture, the way that everything they do and say just sounds sexy.  It's almost impossible how enchanting it is. This is one of my favorite Madeleine Peyroux songs and one of the only french songs I can sing all the way through. I love her Billie Holiday voice and the slow, jazzy feel of her music. Another favorite would be Blue Alert.  But today is warmer, beautiful and sunny, most certainly a J'ai Deux Amours type of day.

Mondays Music: Led Zeppelin, a belated end of the week post

This week has been crazy, but a good kind of crazy of course! Unpacking and organizing and cleaning and setting up furniture and loads upon loads of laundry and cleaning the condo to get ready to sell it.  This week has blown by but somehow felt like forever at the same time. It's probably due to my being inside the house almost all day every day and don't get me wrong, I am enjoying every bit of it. I think everyone should take a nice break from work, life, emotions, stress, people and everything else life seems to bombard you with every day.  Mine of course will hopefully be a short break as I still need to find a job out here in Virginia somewhere that I will be happy and not have too excruciating of a commute.

Regardless of all that I've been slacking a bit on blogging and I really should keep up with it since I do spend a lot of time at home with access to a computer (so no excuses!).

As a very belated, end of the week post for my Monday music I'm still rocking it old school with a little bit of Led Zeppelin. Because let's be honest, when is not a good time for Led Zeppelin???

Mondays Music (a few days late)

I've been trying to keep up with blogging, I really have. It's not like I procrastinate on purpose, I really enjoy blogging but it's been a hectic week with house stuffs, canceling our internet to get it set up at the new house and packing our entire lives into cardboard boxes.

So next week (Monday) when I have internet again I should be good to go for blogging a couple times a week when I actually intend to blog.

For now it will have to be a very belated Monday's Music to not only help me start my week but finish it.

Mondays music became Song for Saturday-Modest Mouse

Monday was the start to a very dreary week. On Monday it took a bit longer for the daylight to begin. The sun was there but refused to peek out from behind the greyness of the morning. It could be the fog that settles itself in the valleys and in between the bare branches of the trees.

On my way in to work, in my rear view mirror, headlights cutting through the settled cloud resemble cookie crumbs at the bottom of a glass of milk. To say Monday set the tone for the rest of the week is an understatement. I was put through the ringer this week. The stress that has been building up for years, for months for weeks and days finally made me come to a breaking point.

Needless to say, Monday wasn't the appropriate time for this awesome song, it was more of a Bon Iver-Blood Bank type of day. So without further ado, Modest Mouse with Missed the Boat

Musical Monday

On Sunday Shaun and I did our usual morning ritual of walking to Starbucks and grabbing coffee, watching the little group of people who gather for an informal car show in the parking lot and then headed off to Alexandria to look at houses.

It was a beautiful sunny, brisk January day and we sipped our coffee while driving through the sunshine listening to Elton John pandora. If you haven't made it a station yet, do it. You will not be sorry. It was a great day of walking around old town Alexandria with it's gorgeous brick and stone buildings, beautiful parks, great lunch and snapping some photos. Unfortunately we realized Alexandria is probably not the place for us, but we at least got a little bit further in our home search!

Here's to sir Elton, hold me closer tiny dancer!
