Monday's Music-Madeleine Peyroux J'ai Deux Amours

I'm fascinated with the french culture. The language, the food, the fashion, the architecture, the way that everything they do and say just sounds sexy.  It's almost impossible how enchanting it is. This is one of my favorite Madeleine Peyroux songs and one of the only french songs I can sing all the way through. I love her Billie Holiday voice and the slow, jazzy feel of her music. Another favorite would be Blue Alert.  But today is warmer, beautiful and sunny, most certainly a J'ai Deux Amours type of day.

Saturdays Song-Dream a Little Dream of Me

I know it's not Saturday anymore, but yesterday was a bit hectic, between coming back from Maryland, unpacking things and paying attention to this little attention starved bunny.

Today has been a bit more serene albeit frigid. Ya see, Shaun and I have both been having slight allergy problems since moving into the new house. That's nothing really out of the ordinary, we both suffer from allergies, but never usually around this time of year, indoors and to the extent they are occuring.  So Shaun got to googling yesterday to see why the house hates us and I recommended that when the weather gets nicer we should open all the windows and do a full clean wiping down everything and de-allergizing things (wow spellcheck didn't tell me that was a fake word!).  So today it got to 50 and of course, since he didn't have to suffer through the not-really-that-warm temperatures, Shaun opened all the windows and left me and Meatwad to shiver like little popsicles.

Needless to say it got a bit chilly, I closed the majority of the windows a few hours ago since I could no longer feel my hands and Meatwad was hunched up in a little ball next to the fireplace, praying that I flick the switch and deliver him some much needed relief.

So after spending a nice peaceful day, snapping etsy inventory photos, attempting at organizing the craft room and making some crockpot chili I am finally getting back to my blogging. It's been a Louis Armstrong type of day and even though this is mainly Ella Fitzgerald, it's one of the happiest, most magical, enchanting songs ever made in my opinion. So simple, so beautiful, timeless, you just can't go wrong with this great classic! So here's to a warmer, chili and jazz-filled Sunday afternoon and the newest episode of The Walking Dead!

Mondays Music: Led Zeppelin, a belated end of the week post

This week has been crazy, but a good kind of crazy of course! Unpacking and organizing and cleaning and setting up furniture and loads upon loads of laundry and cleaning the condo to get ready to sell it.  This week has blown by but somehow felt like forever at the same time. It's probably due to my being inside the house almost all day every day and don't get me wrong, I am enjoying every bit of it. I think everyone should take a nice break from work, life, emotions, stress, people and everything else life seems to bombard you with every day.  Mine of course will hopefully be a short break as I still need to find a job out here in Virginia somewhere that I will be happy and not have too excruciating of a commute.

Regardless of all that I've been slacking a bit on blogging and I really should keep up with it since I do spend a lot of time at home with access to a computer (so no excuses!).

As a very belated, end of the week post for my Monday music I'm still rocking it old school with a little bit of Led Zeppelin. Because let's be honest, when is not a good time for Led Zeppelin???

Mondays Music (a few days late)

I've been trying to keep up with blogging, I really have. It's not like I procrastinate on purpose, I really enjoy blogging but it's been a hectic week with house stuffs, canceling our internet to get it set up at the new house and packing our entire lives into cardboard boxes.

So next week (Monday) when I have internet again I should be good to go for blogging a couple times a week when I actually intend to blog.

For now it will have to be a very belated Monday's Music to not only help me start my week but finish it.

Saturdays Song-a cover

I wanted to find a video for this song as well because it's such a great song and so beautifully covered but alas I could not. It's a cover of a brilliant David Bowie song called Moonage Daydream by the band He's My Brother She's My Sister. Enjoy!

Mondays music became Song for Saturday-Modest Mouse

Monday was the start to a very dreary week. On Monday it took a bit longer for the daylight to begin. The sun was there but refused to peek out from behind the greyness of the morning. It could be the fog that settles itself in the valleys and in between the bare branches of the trees.

On my way in to work, in my rear view mirror, headlights cutting through the settled cloud resemble cookie crumbs at the bottom of a glass of milk. To say Monday set the tone for the rest of the week is an understatement. I was put through the ringer this week. The stress that has been building up for years, for months for weeks and days finally made me come to a breaking point.

Needless to say, Monday wasn't the appropriate time for this awesome song, it was more of a Bon Iver-Blood Bank type of day. So without further ado, Modest Mouse with Missed the Boat

Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer-Big Country

This song makes me think of driving through the country, wide open spaces, cow farms and sunny days.
